Barriers to business recycling 2022: Student Pitches

April 21, 2022

At our most recent City of Newcastle Sustainnovation Challenge, we had students from across the city dive into the problems and challenges that the hospitality, construction and health service industries face when it comes to recycling.

The video here is the ideas, ‘pitches’, that the students came up with after ‘1 day!’ of diving into recycling challenges.

The idea adjudicated to be the best by the judging panel was ‘Pub to Produce’. Developed by students from Hunter School of the Performing Arts, this idea, with the backing of the City of Newcastle ED team and the local hospitality industry, will see all stakeholders come back to the table to see if we can bring this to life.

Thanks to all of the supporters and contributors who helped develop and deliver and promote this recycling challenge:

City of Newcastle, Hunter Joint Organisation, John Holland, Plastic Police, Integrated Innovation Network – I2N – at the University of Newcastle, NSW Health (Hunter New England Health), Australian Hotels Association – Newcastle Hunter, Australian Industry Group (Hunter team), Business Hunter, Newcastle Herald, ABC Newcastle.
